Great Exuma Real Estate
Exuma is a district of the Bahamas, it consists of over 360 islands (or cays). The largest of the cays is Great Exuma, which is 37 miles (60 km) long. The largest city in the district is George Town (population 1,000), founded in 1793 and located in Great Exuma.
The islands are a popular place for sailing, diving on coral reefs and exploring caves. Many of the beaches and islands, including extensive areas of reef at sea, are included in the protected Exuma Land. Some of the islands on which are permanent residents and resorts including Staniel Cay (site of the Staniel Cay Yacht Club, a fixture in the Exumas), Fowl Cay, Musha Cay and Cayo Iguana. Thunderball Grotto, located a few hundred meters away from Staniel Cay is the place where James Bond film Thunderball was filmed. Sandy Cay, encircled in a short boat ride Exuma was the place used for the filming of several scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean.
